Professional information
Umair graduated from the University of Dundee in 2010 and has continually developed his skills in order to become a highly skilled cosmetic dentist.
He has a particular interest in providing minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry, smile makeovers and is heavily involved in the world of sports dentistry.
In 2022, Umair became one of only five dentists in the world to be awarded an MSc in Sports Dentistry (with distinction) from the prestigious UCL Eastman Dental Institute. He was also accepted onto the Dean’s list in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
Umair is affiliated with Edinburgh and Scotland Rugby, Cricket Scotland and provides ad hoc services to elite athletes in Scotland. He is often present on match days, pitch side, as part of the field of play medical staff providing immediate assistance for any oro-facial related injuries. Umair was also part of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, where he was the sports dentist covering the basketball 3×3 and beach volleyball events.
Currently, he is undergoing further training and is in the process of completing his diploma in dental implants which he hopes to complete in 2024.
Umair enjoys building strong relationships with his patients in a friendly environment, and loves giving them the ability to smile with confidence again.

Personal information
Umair and his wife Julia have one daughter, Nina, who keeps them very busy and every day, she brings endless amounts of love, energy, and joy to their lives. They all enjoy spending quality time together which mostly involves socialising and spending time with friends and family, swimming, playing sports, eating out and making sure every day is as fun as it can be.
They enjoy travelling together and love going on family holidays exploring different countries of the world.
Personally, Umair plays cricket and represented Scotland in 2016, gaining 2 international caps. He also represented Scotland under 19 at the Under 19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2016. Currently, he plays at Carlton Cricket Club and is captain of the T20 side and is a member of the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) based at Lord’s cricket ground, London. He also enjoys attending the gym, cycling, and playing golf. Away from sports he enjoys socialising with his friends and family.
I had 2 appointments with Umair at Cherrybank to get my front teeth fixed as old composite was stained and broken and my regular dentist isn’t doing aerosol procedures at the moment. Initially I was apprehensive about visiting a new dentist but Umair was very patient ensuring he got the shade, shape and spacing right to make my smile like new again. He was happy to fix and adapt the spacing as we went along if I wasn’t sure of the aesthetics. The finish on my teeth is flawless. I am really happy with the care I’ve received at Cherrybank, the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Thank you!
