At Cherrybank Dental Spa, we believe in the same levels of excellent care for children as we do for adults. Many of our patients choose to have all the Family Dentistry treatments provided for by our talented team – some across three generations, and occasionally four!

Our aim is to share with you and your family all the latest knowledge about maintaining lifelong dental health. We utilise leading-edge technology to provide gentle diagnosis and, if necessary, treatment – and we have an excellent success rate, even with the most reluctant of patients.

An introduction to the Dental Experience – Happy Visits

Dental care begins with a Happy Visit for children aged under five. This helps to gently introduce them to dental care by making it fun! The visit consists of an appointment with one of our dental therapists, including an introduction to the dental experience and advice on care and future needs.

We recommend Happy Visits from around the age of two-and-a-half, but we are happy to look at your children’s teeth or give advice from any age.

Over-fives

For the over-fives, we have a combined visit with the dental therapist or hygienist and the dentist. Necessary radiographs or X-rays will be prescribed at appropriate intervals to check that all the adult teeth are developing normally, and to screen for any tooth decay.

We also provide the following preventive treatments:

  • Healozone™ – a revolutionary new treatment for tooth decay
  • Air abrasion – gently puffs away, rather than using the drill
  • Fluoride treatment to strengthen teeth and prevent tooth decay
  • Gold standard fissure sealants when the adult molars come in, around six years old
  • Screening orthodontic examination to check for correct development of the bite and tooth/jaw size harmony
  • Oral Health Instruction to develop good habits and prevent gum disease in later life.

Nervous Patients

We can offer sedation if required for nervous children over 12 years old.

I can't recommend this practice enough. I'm phobic of dentistry- for good reasons. However, the whole team and environment put me at ease. I came to Tammy firstly to get a consultation, I had been to a couple other places too, but this was the only meeting I had where I didn’t feel pressured into other treatments. I had expressed that I wanted to keep costs down & wasn’t prepared to commit to Invisalign and Tammy straight away took this on board. She was open about all treatment routes I could go down but the main thing is I wasn’t pushed into anything or felt I was being sold something!Again this was the same when I met Dr Umair, I knew my teeth could benefit from straightening but he heard what I wanted and focused my treatment plan on that. I ended up with whitening, a small bit of gum contouring and composite bonding. Dr Umair comes across really professional and knows exactly what he’s doing so you know your teeth are in good hands. During all my appointments his calm nature kept me calm, I’m not a nervous patient but it had been a while so I was apprehensive! Grainne is also so friendly and super calming, she’d have a nice wee chat with me before & after which calmed my nerves. What a team! I also had the fear to get my impressions for my guard/whitening tray which I told Dr Umair about, somehow he made this feel like nothing and kept me relaxed.My results speak for themselves too, compared to what you can get done to your teeth I didn’t get too much done but it’s an unreal transformation. I wanted my teeth to look more uniform and get rid of the gaps I had, whilst still looking natural and got exactly that. I absolutely love the work that’s been done to my teeth - my confidence in my smile is so much better now!read more
