Professional information

Lauren graduated from the University of Dundee with a BSc in Oral Health Sciences in 2008 and has been at Cherrybank Dental Spa since 2012.

Lauren’s passion is treating dentally anxious patients and helping them to attain and maintain their oral health.

She has also recently gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry, allowing her to further her skills and offer the best care to her patients.In 2022, Lauren was awarded ‘Dental Therapist of the Year UK’ at the Probe Awards, ‘Best Dental Therapist’ at the Dentistry Scotland Awards, as well as receiving Highly Commended for ‘Best Dental Therapist’ at the Private Dentistry Awards.

As well as working clinically, Lauren is a clinical educator and lecturer for several dental companies, teaching other Dental Therapists and Hygienists.

Personal information

Outside of dentistry Lauren likes to spend time with her husband and two boys – whether that’s going on walks with their Dachshund Basil or exploring further afield.

Lauren is also a bit of a foodie and loves to cook. Experimenting with new dishes and bakes is one of her favourite things to do – she loves a new kitchen gadget and has an ever growing collection. She was the proud winner of the Great Cherrybank Bake off in lockdown 2020.

Lauren also loves socialising, trying new restaurants and enjoying live music. Coffee is one of her favourite things, she’s still in pursuit of the ‘perfect’ coffee from Edinburgh’s many coffee shops.

Fantastic. I had a consultation to discuss the treatment options based on the information I had already. However, Tammy took the time to also discuss all other options which I never knew were possible. Tammy really opened my eyes and has left me feeling very confident about what treatment(s) I can go ahead with. Had a dental emergency last week and own dentist were unable to help with pain relief. Carried out a google search and CHERRYBANK came up. Called them and explained circumstances. Emergency appointment arranged for following day, attended and was treated with courtesy, respect and empathy. Saw Dr Vera who carried out necessary emergency treatment to alleviate the pain, which turned out to be pulpitis. Highly recommended for anyone suffering severe dental pain. I have very sensitive teeth & my last dentist would not give me any numbing injections ?? so when my teeth were being cleaned it was really painful, so hence why I took myself to Cherrybank Dental Practice, everything is pain free, they even apply numbing cream so you don't even feel the injections going into your gums, so it's a win win for me.read more

I can't recommend this practice enough. I'm phobic of dentistry- for good reasons. However, the whole team and environment put me at ease. My dentist Chris had an almost miraculous ability to inspire total confidence in him. I really appreciated being treated without judgement, total respect and a bit of well placed humour! I need a lot of work doing. All my options were explained very clearly, the prices laid out, and I can see a bright light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not easy to win over, being an ex-nurse. But also, as an ex-nurse, I know when I meet highly competent health professionals. I now have total confidence in a dentist for the first time in my life.read more

Cherrybank has been pretty much excellent from start to finish. Operationally in terms of appointments, reminders etc but most importantly in respect of the treatment itself from treatment plan to completing the work. I hated, hated the dentist - this experience may just have changed my mind. Expensive, yes, but you get what pay for. I came to Tammy firstly to get a consultation, I had been to a couple other places too, but this was the only meeting I had where I didn’t feel pressured into other treatments. I had expressed that I wanted to keep costs down & wasn’t prepared to commit to Invisalign and Tammy straight away took this on board. She was open about all treatment routes I could go down but the main thing is I wasn’t pushed into anything or felt I was being sold something!Again this was the same when I met Dr Umair, I knew my teeth could benefit from straightening but he heard what I wanted and focused my treatment plan on that. I ended up with whitening, a small bit of gum contouring and composite bonding. Dr Umair comes across really professional and knows exactly what he’s doing so you know your teeth are in good hands. During all my appointments his calm nature kept me calm, I’m not a nervous patient but it had been a while so I was apprehensive! Grainne is also so friendly and super calming, she’d have a nice wee chat with me before & after which calmed my nerves. What a team! I also had the fear to get my impressions for my guard/whitening tray which I told Dr Umair about, somehow he made this feel like nothing and kept me relaxed.My results speak for themselves too, compared to what you can get done to your teeth I didn’t get too much done but it’s an unreal transformation. I wanted my teeth to look more uniform and get rid of the gaps I had, whilst still looking natural and got exactly that. I absolutely love the work that’s been done to my teeth - my confidence in my smile is so much better now!read more
